accelerated depreciation

Definition:

1. Depreciation of an asset by any method under which the charge for depreciation for a year is greater in any one year than it is in the next succeeding year. The declining balance method is one method of accelerated depreciation. 2. Depreciation of an asset in such a way that the depreciated value is equal to the estimated residual value after a shorter time than would be usual for that type of asset.
