Association of Accounting Technicians

Definition:

an accountancy body for accounting technicians working for accountancy firms in public practice, and working in industry, commerce and the public sector. The council of the Association awards qualifications at two levels: Member, designated MAAT, and Senior Accounting Technician, designated SAT. Membership is attained by passing the Association’s examination or obtaining exemption, and gaining three years’ accounting experience after registration as a student. A Member may become a Senior Accounting Technician after acquiring a minimum of five years’ relevant professional experience at a senior level.
