cost and freight

Definition:

trade terms for the sale of goods that are to be transported to the buyer by sea under which the seller must pa the costs and freight necessary to bring the goods to a destination port nominated by the buyer but the buyer bears the risk of the goods being lost or damaged after they have crossed the ship’s rail when being loaded at the start of the sea journey so that the buyer should insure the goods for the sea journey.
