garnishee proceedings

Definition:

legal proceedings for the attachment of a debt for the execution of a court order or judgment. The proceedings are taken against a person (called the ‘garnishee’) who owes money to the judgment debtor. A ‘garnishee order’ is made requiring the garnishee to pay the money to the judgment creditor instead of the judgment debtor.
