refer to drawer

abbreviation: R/D. A phrase traditionally written on a cheque when the bank on which it is drawn refuses to pay it. The phrase is generally taken to mean that there is insufficient money to pay the cheque in the bank account on which it was drawn, so if there is some other reason for refusing to pay the cheque that reason must be stated on the cheque. Reasons for refusing to pay cheques are traditionally written in red capital letters.
