working capital adjustment

Definition:

the increase in working capital required during the period covered by a current cost profit and loss account in order to maintain the operating capability of the net operating assets of the entity. It comprises two elements: a cost of sales adjustment and a monetary working capital adjustment. If current costs are falling, the working capital adjustment is the decrease possible in working capital during the period of the profit and loss account.
